Ideas at the Powerhouse occupied the Brisbane Powerhouse during
August 16 - 19, 2001.
With free and ticketed session, day and night events and activities
in indoor and outdoor venues, the Ideas at the Powerhouse program
provided something for the serious, the sceptical, the opinionated
and for the fence sitters. The full
program of sessions, activities, events and displays is online.
For four days in August 2001, the people of Brisbane visited the
Brisbane Powerhouse and had the chance to:
- Hear and challenge leading national, international and local
thinkers and commentators from the fields of science, politics,
design, economics, the arts, society and culture. The main program
will feature keynote speakers, panels,
forums, discussion and live radio broadcasts.
- Wander through the Ideas Bazaar, an open marketplace of ideas,
with booths, expert advisors, displays, exhibitions and soapbox
speakers. Bring your inventions to the Ideas
Bazaar.
- Settle in for Late Night Ideas debates, comedy, quizzes and
questions in the Spark Bar.
- Watch the kids put ideas into action in a wild program of free
Kids Ideas activities.
More that 75% of the Ideas program was free, with sessions programmed
day and night in formal and information settings.
